Waste is piling up around us, but we’re struggling to get rid of it. The linear economy is marked by endless consumption. People are brought up to participate in this system from an early age.
The old adage of “look, don’t buy” has shifted over the ages to “buy, don’t look”. The economic model of consumption is still growing, which exacerbates the ecological crisis. Since we’re living in a linear economical system, profits still prevail over values.
Through technical or functional manipulation, products are rapidly made obsolete as innovations entice consumers to get rid of “old” items without much thought. There is a need and a way to change this, but we have to do it together. RE-THINK.
