Social housing in the Netherlands is suffering from shortages. This affects many low-income citizens. Along with the housing shortage, many companies are closing down amid the coronavirus pandemic, and more and more people are living below the poverty line. One in every 13 Dutch children is living in poverty.
As companies shut down, commercial properties are abandoned. My concept aims to use these buildings in a new way: by realising living communities for people with children living under the poverty line. This will help combat loneliness among children. These communities are designed with child wellbeing and development at the forefront.
