ACADEMY FOR CREATIVE CONCEPTING

Trend Forecasting

Trend Forecasting is essential for developing innovative and future-proof concepts. In this module, you will learn to identify signals from society, culture, and industry and systematically map shifts in values. By applying various forecasting methods, you will gain insights that allow you to make well-founded predictions about future developments. You will analyze current trends and translate them into visual, strategic forecasts, enabling you to inspire and advise both creative and commercial industries on what the future may hold. These skills are indispensable for creating impactful concepts that not only respond to today’s market but also anticipate future changes and innovations.

At Artemis, we define a trend as the direction in which something moves, significantly influencing culture, society, or a specific industry. This makes applied trend forecasting an essential skill that continuously stimulates creative thinking through listening, observing, and researching. Combined with forecasting methods, this approach enables you to make data-driven predictions about the future based on your findings.

We explicitly refer to it as applied trend forecasting because the focus is on how to directly implement and integrate these insights into your own work.

This module is designed for innovators, forward-thinkers, and those who want to stay ahead of the curve while inspiring their teams with new possibilities in their industry. It is particularly relevant for professionals such as Brand Managers, Creative Directors, Art Directors, Marketers, Communication Specialists, Innovation Consultants, Interior Designers, Product Designers, Social Designers, Event Managers, UX Researchers, Retail Designers, and Stylists.

Theme 1

Intro & Trendhunt

In the first week, you'll be introduced to the basics of trend research: spotting trends. You’ll learn how to trust your own observations and how to look around you to pick up important signals. You’ll choose a specific sector, industry, or field to research trends, and begin collecting trend signals. These signals will be gathered on a visual ‘evidence wall,’ an inspiring collection of your findings. This marks the beginning of your journey into understanding trends and their impact on the future.
